Welcome. I'm Charles Stephens and this is my website and your introduction to La Jolla, California the San Diego real estate market. Please feel free to contact me for any information regarding real estate in La Jolla and surrounding areas or any questions you may have about life in this extraordinary place.
Someone once said that La Jolla is as much a state of mind as it is a place. You understand what that means once you’ve spent time here. It’s small town America with streets lined with mom and pop businesses that still close on Sunday. It’s a cultural town, with world-class theater, museums and art galleries. On your first visit you may want to take a walk down to the cove and sit by yourself on one of the benches that overlooks a tiny treasure of a beach. There you’ll see pretty quickly just what makes La Jolla so special.

La Jolla consists of no less than 10 different neighborhoods, each with it’s own unique appeal.
The Village speaks for itself and you can spend a month working your way though the fabulous shops and eateries.
The Barber Tract has a bit of bohemian quality and is near Wind & Sea Beach, famous with surfers all over the world.
Bird Rock has it's own little village, a great elementary school and a "Leave it to Beaver" quality.
The Shores is for those to whom the beach is a lifestyle. Miles of sand to run on, a great park to gather and meet people, plenty of room to surf and a casual air of perennial vacation.
The Muirlands is desired for its older homes and large trees and Upper and Lower Hermosa are loved for their old fashioned neighborhood quality.

These are just a few of the fabulous choices one has in deciding to make La Jolla their home. Please bookmark this site and utilize the Featured Listings page and the MLS link to search for your perfect home. Of course you can contact me directly, I’d be happy to speak to you. I can even set your search parameters for you and you will receive the most up to date information on homes that might interest you.
La Jolla residents include some of the wealthiest people in the world with multi-million dollar gated estates and ocean front homes or hillside hideaways with drop dead gorgeous views. However there is probably a majority of more modest residences housing families drawn here for the exceptional schools.
While the sky’s the limit on the upper end of the market, entry level homes run generally in the $1,000,000 - $2,000,000 range and condos in the zip code can be had for under $500,000 depending on location, size and amenities.
But don’t be fooled. There’s still enough of the California surf culture here to keep things interesting and make sure we don’t get too full of ourselves! So come. Whether your tastes run toward the food at La Valencia or Wahoo Fish Tacos (or both) there’s a place for you here.
Life beyond La Jolla?
Sure! There are a lot of great choices for places to live in San Diego. With almost 3 million residents, San Diego County covers more than 4500 sq. miles and has 18 incorporated cities. (La Jolla is not a separate city we just act like it!) Much of San Diego is made up of Canyons and Mesas allowing for a diverse system of “villages” separated by natural parkland filled with wildlife. (Just wait until the dog “trees” an opossum!).
A few areas that are alternatives to La Jolla are, Pacific Beach, directly to the south which has a young and hip vibe, Del Mar to the north, much like La Jolla, with a smaller village and the world famous Del Mar Race Track started by Bing Crosby. A bit inland from La Jolla and thus more affordable is University City and UTC, located in what is called the “Golden Triangle” where many streets are named after Nobel Laureates and popular due to it’s excellent schools and easy access to major freeways for convenient commuting. Further out and to the north is Rancho Santa Fe. “The Ranch” as locals call it, is equestrian centric with winding tree lined roads and gated homes on large lots. This incredible pastoral setting has led to many beautiful exclusive developments in the surrounding areas, such as Fairbanks Ranch, The Crosby, Rancho Pacifica and Del Mar Country Club just to name a few. Not to be overlooked, to the south nearer downtown is Point Loma. Once a community for fishermen of mostly Portuguese decent it has become a haven for boat enthusiasts due to it's location on San Diego Bay. Much of the area is terrain is steep hillside allowing for incredible view homes.
This is just a sampling of all San Diego has to offer.
Please visit the local links page for more information about local schools, shopping, dining and more. And when it’s time to move contact me. I would love to help in your transition.
